  • Water penetrates entire building from top floor to basement
  • Ceiling tiles, carpets and floorboards destroyed
  • Eight CleanSafe Services technicians and 63 items of specialist equipment on site in less than 24 hours

A single tap left running in the top-floor toilet block of a shopping centre overnight caused flooding that penetrated through all five floors of the building and flooded the basement.

Flood damage cleaning rapid response

The emergency call-out came in to CleanSafe Services on a Saturday and a technician was able to do a site assessment the same day.

In less than 24 hours CleanSafe Services Regional Operations Manager, North, Jamie Osborne, had mobilised eight technicians with 63 items of specialist drying equipment onsite and fully installed.

Up-to-date technology for most effective after-flood drying

Cleansafe Services technicians installed latest technology dehumidifiers and air movers for the most effective after-flood drying.

Damaged ceiling and carpet tiles had to be removed and dirty floodwater pumped out of the basement.

Fast turnaround for business continuity

Jamie Osborne said, “We were able to act very quickly and resolve the immediate problems, such as pumping the water out of the basement straight away.

“We mobilised a very experienced team and a large amount of essential drying equipment. The aim was to get the businesses trading again as soon as possible.

“Our drying process is extremely efficient without being too fast, which can cause cracks in plaster or too slow, which can allow mould to develop and pose a health hazard.

“We met our one-week target for the affected shops, which were able to start trading again. One shop had an oak floor which was damaged and not safe for customers to walk on. They were able to re-open for business as soon as their shop-fitters replaced the floor.”
