Our client needed urgent support to clear a house in Basildon, Essex, after a hoarder tenant died in the property which was also heavily contaminated with biohazardous waste.
The Challenge
We mobilised a specialist waste and cleaning team. A key challenge was the chaotic nature of the contents and hazardous waste, including faeces smeared over surfaces.
Action
Following a detailed survey, SafeGroup prepared a bespoke risk assessment and method statement to clear the contents and deep clean the property so it could be relet as soon as possible.
Delivery
Wearing full biohazard PPE, our operatives cleared all rooms, including removing contaminated furniture and fixtures and all flooring materials, then disinfected all rooms.
Outcomes
In a 5 day operation, all biohazards were removed. Waste was taken for safe disposal. All surfaces were decontaminated. The property was left safe for the landlord to renovate and re-let.
