Client: National healthcare group
Project: Private hospital roof clean
Location: Kent
A private healthcare group commissioned SafeGroup to clean the roof, soffits and facias of one of its private hospitals, which is a listed building.
The roof, soffits, gutters, downpipes, windows, frames and facias had not been cleaned for a long period. They were covered with grime, algae and moss. This was unsightly and not in keeping with the high quality of the client’s brand.
There was also concern that grime, algae and moss could detrimentally affect the condition of the assets concerned.
The building has many sloping roofs at different levels and angles, making access to work areas difficult. This had implications for safety and protecting the listed building.
Our client wanted to give the roof additional protection against grime and plant-based contamination. There was also a need to minimise disruption for patients, visitors and staff.
We recommended carrying out the cleaning work from a truck mounted platform. This had important advantages:
We used a power washing system set at low pressure and high heat to protect potentially delicate roof tiles.
As well as carrying out thorough cleaning, we treated all areas with a specialist chemical to slow algae regrowth.
We strive to set the highest standards of risk management when working at height.
