WasteSafe Services has provided a free waste collection service for two fundraising events organised by Naomi House and Jacksplace Hospices for children and young adults.
The national emergency waste management company supplied 240-litre waste bins for the charity’s Clarendon Walk and its Gauntlet Games, which raised tens of thousands of pounds.
Naomi House and Jacksplace Hospices, in Winchester, Hampshire, provides expert hospice care to more than 340 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people, and their extended families.
Service users are drawn from across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey, and the Isle of Wight.
Steve Broughton, Managing Director of WasteSafe Services, said: “We were introduced to Naomi House and Jacksplace Hospices by one of our customers, Mitie, and we were very happy to help.
“Being able to provide a waste collection service for two such important events gave the hospice one less thing to worry about, so they could get on with supporting their many hundreds of fundraisers.”
The Clarendon Way Walk, held on Sunday 4 June, saw 900 people walk the 26 miles from Salisbury to Winchester, and 14 miles from the village of Broughton to Winchester. A total of 20 WasteSafe bins were provided at the start and the halfway point.
The Gauntlet Games, a fun-filled obstacle course, involving lots of bubbly water, was held on 13 May. WasteSafe provide 10 bins to make sure the hundreds of participants had a place to put their food wrappers and drinks bottles.
WasteSafe Services is based in Coulsdon, South London, and provides specialist waste services across the UK, from four regional depots, in London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
