Waste industry business leader and innovator Fergus Healy has been appointed as Divisional Director of WasteSafe Services.

Fergus has more than 20 years of senior management experience in the waste, recycling and renewables sectors for SMEs, large utilities, major waste players and AIM-listed businesses.

He has specialised in managing complex national waste collection and treatment businesses, setting strategic direction and optimising the logistics of waste collection businesses across a wide variety of waste types.

Highest levels of innovation

Fergus is now putting this experience and expertise to use in developing and implementing an exciting growth strategy for WasteSafe Services, one of the UK’s leading same day unplanned waste collection businesses.

Steve Broughton, Managing Director of WasteSafe Services, said: “We are delighted that Fergus has joined WasteSafe Services. We are committed to maintaining the highest levels of innovation and customer services and Fergus’s skills and experience can help us take our services to the next level.”

Strong business model

Fergus Healy said: “After a period of time working for various clients as a Management Consultant I elected to join WasteSafe in January. WasteSafe have a strong business model and their development over the last 6 years has been impressive. There is a great “can-do” attitude within the business, epitomised by Steve’s tremendous energy and passion to deliver top notch services. My goal now is to develop the operating model further so the business can be significantly scaled over the next 24 months. I have devised a detailed business plan underpinning our ambition and I am very much looking forward to implementing the plan over the coming months.”

An agile, tailored emergency service

The appointment of Fergus Healy as Divisional Director is a great opportunity to develop WasteSafe Services’ undoubted expertise in the emergency waste collection industry. The company offers just the sort of service many companies need, especially in food, retail and hospitality sectors, where a fast, agile, tailored emergency service is needed to maintain high levels of sustainability, support business continuity, and protect business reputation.

Service excellence and Safety

WasteSafe Services has a reputation for service excellence and safety, supported by industry-leading training and accredited quality standards. Key services include emergency food waste collections following freezer breakdowns and product recalls, waste clearances, and supporting regular scheduled collections that have failed.

It is also very active in helping commercial and local government clients remove fly-tipped and hazardous waste safely and correctly.

The company is able to offer a bespoke Wait and Load service for shopfitters and office refurbishment companies when working in inner-city locations with little or no access or space for skips.

Committed food waste advocate

Fergus Healy worked as an independent management consultant to upscale SMEs and develop change programmes and growth initiatives. He has worked across Europe and the middle east for waste and renewable energy businesses from small SME’s to large utilities.

As a committed food waste advocate around segregation and minimisation, Fergus has extensively lobbied Government and NGOs to promote decarbonising the UK economy through the use of waste food as a fuel to produce green gas in our heat networks.
