Specialist cleaning, decontamination and waste specialist SafeGroup Services Ltd has become a member of the Chartered Institution of Waste Management.
The decision to join the institution reflects SafeGroup’s determination to set the highest standards for the sustainable removal and disposal of waste.
The Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM) is the leading professional body for resource and waste professionals, representing individuals and companies across the UK and internationally.
Fergus Healy, Head of Waste at SafeGroup, said: “We want to be an active participant within the industries that are central to the core services we deliver.
“Becoming a CIWM member allows us to benefit from its expertise and knowledge and, when necessary, share our own insights as a leading specialist waste management company for the good of the industry.”

As an affiliate member, SafeGroup has pledged to comply with the CIWM’s code of conduct which details the need to maintain the highest standards of expertise, business practice, and environmental protection.
SafeGroup Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager Adam Wilkinson said: “Being a CIWM member tells our clients a good deal about the standards we have signed up to and the kind of waste company we aspire to be.
“Becoming a member of the institution will help us benchmark our services and continuously improve them. It’s part of our mission to set clear, measurable and valued standards by which we judge our operations and others can judge us.”
SafeGroup delivers a wide range of reactive, planned and periodic waste collection and disposal service. They include hazardous waste collection, fly-tip waste clean-up and disposal, emergency food waste collection and peak demand waste collection.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has been supporting clients with the collection of clinical and offence waste from company testing stations across the UK.

In January 2021, SafeGroup became a member of the Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA). It campaigns on behalf of the cleaning industry on key issues, such as technical standards, safety and equality.
