Emergency cleaning and waste management specialist SafeGroup has been accredited as a COVID-19 cleaning company under the Alcumus SafeContractor scheme.

While renewing its accreditation, SafeGroup supplied a range of documentation to demonstrate its competence to qualify for Alcumus SafeContractor’s new COVID-19 cleaning category.

Covid-19 Cleaning and Decontamination

The addition of the category is a clear sign of the long-term impact of the virus on UK industry, and a welcomed acknowledgement of the expertise and resources needed to carry out COVID-19 decontamination work effectively and safely, said SafeGroup Health, Safety and Compliance Manager Adam Wilkinson.

He added: “Alcumus’s addition of COVID-19 cleaning to its work categories shows how rapidly combatting the virus has become a vital part of specialist hygiene systems in the UK and that it is going to be of critical importance for the foreseeable future.

“As a specialist emergency cleaning company, SafeGroup has been supporting clients with effective COVID-19 decontamination from the very first days of the pandemic, helping them to provide safe environments for employees, customers and the general public.

“The COVID-19 crisis has also attracted new entrants into the market that we are concerned do not have the same expertise, experience and resources needed to carry out COVID-19 cleaning to a high standard.

“As such, these service providers may not have the capability to reduce COVID-19 risks in line with the promises they make. In fact, their activities might actually increase risk of virus transmission, not least by giving customers a false sense of security.

“Embedding quality processes in accreditation schemes like Alcumus SafeContractor is a positive step. It gives service users more information to assess the capabilities of companies professing to be COVID-19 cleaners.”

SafeGroup has reviewed and revised all its policies and procedures to ensure it delivers COVID-19 secure services designed to exceed Government guidelines and regulation.

As well as delivering proven COVID-19 (Coronavirus) decontamination technologies, SafeGroup teams are trained to operate in a COVID-19 secure way at all times, both on customer premises and at SafeGroup’s sites across the UK.

“Every step of service delivery has been considered over and above the use of the very latest PPE and safe working systems to combat COVID-19 transmission,” said Adam Wilkinson.

“From arriving on site to leaving site, our front-line teams undertake a series of important steps to control any possible risk of virus spreading.

“That also includes changing the way they interact with support staff in receiving new equipment and cleaning supplies. As extreme cleaning specialists, our customers can rely on our operatives setting high standards. With COVID-19, they have been elevated to an even higher level.”

SafeGroup is providing COVID-19 decontamination services for a wide range of organisations and businesses, including airports, public transport providers, schools, construction contractors, manufacturers, retailers and healthcare providers.

It has invested in the latest COVID-19 hygiene systems, including advanced electro-static spray equipment and chemical decontamination technology, so its teams can respond quickly and effectively to all environmental risks associated with the virus.

Alcumus SafeContractor is one of the UK’s leading health and safety accreditation schemes. It is used to demonstrate standards across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, construction, facilities management, public sector and logistics.
