Specialist cleaning company CleanSafe Services has carried out a four-week programme of high level cleaning in workshops at the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME).
The extreme cleaning experts carried out the meticulous work at Brompton Barracks, the headquarters of the RSME, at Chatham, in Kent.
CleanSafe Services Managing Director Steve Broughton said: “The work carried out at Brompton Barracks, we believe, demonstrates well the added value we bring to such an intensive programme of specialist cleaning.
“Very large and complex structures must be cleaned to an exceptional standard in a fixed period of time, with strict security conditions in place.
“The term military precision is an apt description of how our staff must set about their work, while observing the highest level of health and safety demanded when working at height.”
A wide range of training is carried out at Brompton Barracks, for both military and civilian personnel, including brick laying, metal fabrication, welding, carpentry, and surveying.
The month-long high level cleaning programme is designed to remove dust and other deposits generated in the workshops during the practical training classes.
It is needed to satisfy health and safety regulations, and set the maintain the standards of cleanliness and hygiene expected in a military establishment.
CleanSafe Services deployed a team of six high level cleaning operatives on the project, working only from mobile elevating working platforms, to maximise safety and productivity.
Dave Avers, CleanSafe Services Project Manager, said: “The ceiling space has a lot of pipework and ducting which all had to be cleaned to an exacting standard. The complexity of the floor area, with all the machinery and bench areas, added to the complexity of the task.
“However, as specialist cleaners, these the are sort of environments our teams are trained and qualified to operate in. They also take a lot of pride in their work. The difference in how the workshops look once the cleaning is done is tremendous.”
The CleanSafe Services team also cleaned toilet blocks and floors throughout the extensive workshops as part of the programme. They were also able to help in-house staff deal with a flooding incident in one of the buildings.
Dave Avers said: “Emergency flood recovery and drying is one of our core services, so we were very much in the right place at the right time. For the estate staff it was an emergency, for us it was our day job.”
